Blizzard's latest Diablo 4 hotfix focuses on fixing a couple of Necromancer-related issues and a separate monster health bug, rather than adding new systems or content. Hotfix 2 for Patch 3.0.1, released on April 28, 2026, targets the Schadenfreude variant of Iron Maiden, the Bramble variant of Bone Prison, and some monsters that had higher health than intended Diablo 4 Items.
The biggest gameplay change is the nerf to Iron Maiden's Schadenfreude variant, which was dealing much more damage than it should. This wasn't a normal balance tweak—it was an unintended spike in power. Necromancer players will notice that one of the stronger curse-based options now performs more in line with the rest of the kit.
Bone Prison's Bramble variant received a similar correction. That variant had also been doing too much damage, so the hotfix prevents certain builds from benefiting from a bug rather than deliberate design. Players relying on Bone Prison for burst damage will see a smaller payoff, especially in setups that were leaning on the unintended scaling.
Monster health was adjusted as well. Several enemies, including Pangs of Duriel and Infernal Prison, had higher health than planned. Fixing this makes fights feel more natural and keeps pacing closer to what the designers intended, avoiding unnecessarily long or frustrating encounters.
This patch is clearly a cleanup pass rather than a content update. Blizzard didn't add new mechanics, rewards, or class changes; the goal was to correct values that were behaving unexpectedly in live play. Fixes like these are often the quickest way to stabilize a new expansion environment when a few bugs are skewing balance or making encounters feel unfair.
Hotfix 2 is a small but meaningful update.
